Bachelor of Police Services

The Police University College in Tampere is the only institute in Finland educating police officers. The basic police degree is a Bachelor’s degree, and it takes three years to complete the studies.

The applicant must be a Finnish citizen and master either Finnish or Swedish.

Skilled officers into the field

During the Bachelor of Police Services degree studies, students learn practical knowledge and skills needed in police work. 

The degree qualifies to the position of a Senior Constable. Upon graduation, the police officers usually work in basic tasks in public order and security activities or in crime prevention. The graduates of the Police University College can apply for open positions in police departments and other units, such as the National Bureau of Investigation and the Finnish Security Intelligence Service.

Did you know?

  • In Finland, you can only graduate as a police officer from the Police University College in Tampere.
  • There is no upper age limit in the Police University College's student selection process. The youngest applicants are 18 years old. Historically, the oldest applicants selected for police training have been aged 40 and above.
  • Police students already get to wear their uniforms during training.
