Polamk.fi website accessibility statement

This accessibility statement relates to the polamk.fi online service, which is managed by the Police University College. This website was published on 17 December 2020. The service is subject to the Act on the Provision of Digital Services which requires that all public digital services must be accessible.

This accessibility statement was originally created on 16 December 2020, and it was last updated on 20 February 2024.

We have prepared our own assessment of the accessibility of the online service. We have used external tools and services to prepare the assessment.

Digital service accessibility status

The website conforms for the most part to the statutory WCAG 2.1 accessibility requirements at level A and AA, and the website does not have any critical accessibility issues. The primary accessibility issues of the website are described below in this document.

Non-accessible contents

The following accessibility issues are present on the website:

  • The online service contains non-accessible attachment files created and published before the entry into force of the Act on the Provision of Digital Services. In addition to this, the online service contains non-accessible attachment files published after the entry into force of the Act on the Provision of Digital Services that do not meet all accessibility requirements. Some of these attachment files will be updated to meet accessibility requirements upon the next update of the document’s content. Some are one-time publications originally created and published in a non-accessible format and will not be updated afterwards, based on the principle of disproportionality.
  • The navigation identifiers in the VIESTI research project idea book (available only in Finnish) are not unique, which may interfere with the functionality of a screen reader (WCAG 2.1, criterion 4.11, level A). Measures to address these issues are being implemented.
  • The “Back to top” link at the bottom of the page only moves the focus visually and does not move a screen reader’s focus as intended (WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.3.2 and 2.4.3, level A). The issue will be corrected shortly.
  • The alternative texts for the front page banner images do not describe the targets of the links (WCAG 2.1, criterion 1.1.1, level A).

Any messages received at [email protected] will be logged in our case management system. We reply to feedback without delay and in every case no later than two weeks from contact. We will notify the user who made the request about the extension of response time.

If you wish to send us feedback anonymously, you can use the feedback form on our website. You can also use the “Did you find what you were looking for” section at the bottom of the Finnish-language site to send anonymous feedback (this section is visible if you have accepted the use of cookies on the website).
