Image survey: Police education interesting to and valued among young people
In a survey conducted on the matter, young people in Finland considered the Police University College to be one of the most valued universities of applied sciences. In an image survey carried out by market research company Taloustutkimus, the Police University College received the highest overall ranking.
”Among young people these days, the Police University College is very well known. The University College has boosted its interest as a place of study and, according to the survey, is currently found within the group of the four most interesting universities of applied sciences. This naturally has special significance for a small university college providing education to develop multiskilled experts in security and safety,” says Kimmo Himberg, Director of the Police University College.
According to these young people, the Police University College has many particular strengths: the education is of a high quality and the degree it offers is valued on the labor market. In addition, the Police University College has a reputation as a good place to study, standing out from other higher education institutions.
The visibility of the Police University College online and in social media is also highly valued.
”Based on the survey results, we need to think about how we can improve the image of the international opportunities offered by a career in the police forces among young people. The Finnish Police actively work these days in various areas of international policing, and our students already develop a familiarity with this during their education in many ways.”
Taloustutkimus carried out this survey in February - March 2020 on how well universities of applied sciences are known and what their image is among young people. The image survey was conducted as an electronic survey, with approximately 3,000 Finns under the age of 30 responding nationwide.
