Image survey: Police University College fairs well among universities of applied sciences
Young people in Finland value the education provided at Police University College high among universities of applied sciences. The Tampere-based higher education once again received a high overall score in the national image survey carried out by market research company Taloustutkimus.
The image of universities of applied sciences was surveyed by means of nine statements. Four of the statements were found by the respondents to describe the Police University College best: A definite strength is the high-quality of teaching and a qualification appreciated in the labor market. The Police University College also stands out among other higher education institutions and has a positive image in the media, including various social media channels.
The respondents found the Police University College’s reputation as a good place to study second best of all the higher education institutions surveyed. Based on the survey, the Police University College is well known and its online content is valued high.
“Police University College provides security sector training for the future, and the survey respondents considered its dedication to this special area highly attractive. I believe that this is a significant competitive advantage for a small higher education institution like the Police University College in the battle for an ever-reducing number of new students,” says Director of the Police University College Kimmo Himberg .
“Based on the survey results, we need to think about how we can improve the image of the international opportunities offered by a career in the police forces among young people. A large number of Finnish police officers work in different positions abroad, all the areas of everyday policing include international cooperation, and Police University College naturally participates actively in international cooperation between higher education institutions, student exchange programs and R&D projects.”
The best overall score in the national image survey of universities of applied sciences went to Tampere University of Applied Sciences, with the Police University College getting the fourth highest score.
Taloustutkimus carried out a survey in February-March 2019 on how well universities of applied sciences are known and what their image is. Approximately 2,500 people under the age of 30 responded to the image survey of universities of applied sciences nationwide.
