Obedience tests for guard and security dogs

The Police Dog Training Centre organizes annually an obedience test for guard and security dogs. The test is held at the Police Dog Training Centre in Hämeenlinna.

A guard dog’s obedience test consists of two parts: obedience and proper movement.

A security dog’s obedience test consists of two parts: obedience and proper movement.

The handler taking part in the test must have a valid security guard or security steward license. The dog taking part in the test must be registered in the Finnish Food Authority Dog Registry.

Obedience tests are based on the Private Security Services Act. The act stipulates that dogs used by security guards and stewards must pass an obedience test.
