Obedience tests for guard and security dogs
The Police Dog Training Centre organizes annually an obedience test for guard and security dogs. The test is held at the Police Dog Training Centre in Hämeenlinna.
A guard dog’s obedience test consists of three parts: approachability, obedience, and proper movement.
A security dog’s obedience test also consists of three parts: approachability, obedience, and defending the handler.
The handler taking part in the test must have a valid security guard or security steward license.
Obedience tests are based on the Private Security Services Act. The act stipulates that dogs used by security guards and stewards must pass an obedience test.
