Equality in the police 2018
Implementing a study on equality is one of the measures included in the police’s equality and equal opportunities scheme for 2017–2019. Similar studies have previously been carried out in 1998 and 2004. The 2018 study is conducted jointly by the Police University College and the National Police Board. The survey questionnaire was sent to all women working within the police administration and to a random sample of men.
Questions concerning the realization of equality cover, for example, the respondents’ experiences of equality in their workplace community, supervisors’ equality competence, sexual harassment at work, and the work/life balance. In addition, the survey includes questions from the 2004 survey regarding gender in the police organization, in police work and in performing police duties. The survey also covers the respondents’ family situation, use of family leave, and opportunities to earn extra income in their jobs.
