Challenging interactional situations: Encountering people at risk for suicide or suffering from mental disorders (HAAVA)
The HAAVA project focuses on challenging interactional situations and supports the implementation of the National Mental Health Strategy and Programme for Suicide Prevention. The project produces online teaching materials dealing with how to encounter a person at risk for suicide, or suffering from mental health disorders. The teaching materials can be utilised both in the Bachelor of Police Services degree, and continuing education programs for the police at the Police University College.
The project is carried out in cooperation by specialists for mental health promotion in the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL’s mental health team, and the Police University College’s teaching and RDI operations. Chief Specialist Pia Solin from THL is responsible for the project. The project is supported by a team of specialists, including representatives of local police and organisations involved in the promotion of mental health, as well as experts by experience.
