SOCIAL MEDIA FOR RESCUE – Social media in crisis and accident management (SOPU)
The fast-paced, constantly changing media environment sets new requirements for official communications. When crises and accidents occur, citizens need more information, and the authorities must be able to produce and share information more rapidly than before.
The Social Media for Rescue project is a multi-factor study of the utilization of social media channels in crises and exceptional conditions, in Finland and internationally. The aim is to investigate how social media can be utilized in communicating about major accidents and disasters, and the related crisis and accident management.
