Do

We produce information and competence for specialist and management tasks related to internal security and for developing the safety of society. Our core processes are teaching and learning as well as research and development. Our management supports the achievement of the objectives.

In Finnish conditions, we are a small higher education unit and we rely strongly on network-based cooperation with Finnish and foreign higher education institutions and research institutes. 

Our higher education community has drawn up the Polamk code of community, which is based on the common values of the police, the ethical code of conduct, and the Police University College strategy. Our code of community outlines how we do our work, study and act together.

The second phase of the PDCA model for continuous development is called Do.

Creating future security

Our process chart (see figure below) outlines our activities aimed at future security. We train our students to become experts on internal security. Our RDI activities produce researched information, solutions and expertise to solve complex societal challenges. We work together with our partners.

Our process map outlines teaching and learning as well as research and development as core process-es, which are supported by management and cooperation with our partners. The outputs of our core processes include internal security experts as well as researched knowledge, solutions and expertise. Competence and knowledge produce future security.

Our activities are supported by process descriptions and instructions, the most important of which are collected in the sections on teaching and learning, research and development, and management. The instructions provide a good understanding of the principles and procedures used to ensure the quality of the operations. We prepare the descriptions and procedures together with the person responsible for each process.

In the Operational support section, we describe our personnel work, financial planning and monitoring, information management, and the environment in which we work and study.
